Civilization has developed into a world of constant innovation and progress which never ceases to innovate. Throughout human history many types of products and designs have came about through needs of certain groups of people. This priority of human need was continually addressed with new periods of time, and in different parts of the world. With a consecutive need to address new aesthetic trends, materials, and ways of production, these qualities have constrained and informed designers in history to reach wider audiences and push the envelope of human innovation in design. Empowering the user to crave even further levels of conceptual excellency in conjunction with functionality and affordability. That This project is about this constant innovation and need to develop new processes to design in the ever growing and changing needs of the market in the 21st century landscape. This conflict led to the development of Modernism and the introduction of furniture that symbolized elegance, creativity, and a classical standard for the materials ,production, and processes of the time. By using innovative materials like bent pipe, chrome, and mass manufacturing techniques, these works were elevated from furniture pieces to immortalized works of art, the same happening to the creators of the designs. These chairs were at the pinnacle, and to this day have stood as inspiration in many applied fields of creative arts. This project plans to revisit these classic works by addressing this need for the new, and the innovative as requested of the design community before. Today is different in the fact that people can custom fabricate, and in the near future will have the ability to create many of the items the desire right from their homes or neighborhood shops, if they don’t already. Also, due to the ever increasing amount of these machines, this will only drive production costs lower in the and make neo-fabrication technology and printers become necessary commodities in day to day life. Using 3D printed Metal, to show the highest level of detail, this project could be made from plastics or metals alike. This projects wishes to address this customization, and optimization to minimize cost when these techniques become more mainstream and more affordable for to the common person. However this iteration of the design timeline, is using state of the art in high-end additive technologies, in combination with new development software to maximize the level of efficiency, optimization for additive 3d production, and increased visual aesthetic beauty within the work. The intention of innovating on a whole market, in a world of custom fabrication that the majority of humans will be able to access in the near future, is not only pushing the three - dimensional additive envelope, but also creating a new standard for production.
